Common name: Pithy sword-sedge.
Description:
Stems 60-100 mm high, 6-8 mm broad, strongly biconvex with narrow acute edges; leaves similar; particle 10-30 cm long, rather narrow, the lowest subtending bract 4-10 cm long.
Spikelets 2-3-flowered, brown, 6-7 mm long, densely crowded along the erect branches, sometimes forming distinct clusters.
Nut narrow-ovoid, acute, long-cuneate to the wide base, c. 3 x 1.5 mm, irregularly wrinkled, light-brown to brown, shiny, cup at the base of the style indistinct, straw-coloured; scales distinct, spongy, ovate, ovate-lanceolate, a quarter to half as long as the nut.
