Juncus subnodulosus

Citation: Schrank, Baiersche Fl. 1:616 (1789).

Synonymy: Not Applicable

Common name: Blunt-flowered rush (in Britain).

Description:
Perennial; stems arising from a rhizome, rather soft, 50-120 cm high, bright-green, hollow with several longitudinal tubes and incomplete transverse sepia; leaves similar to the stems.

inflorescence compound, of many heads of 3-12 flowers; flowers pale-coloured at first, but darkening later; perianth 2-2.5 mm long, obtuse; stamens 6.

capsule pale-brown, broadly ovoid, acuminate. (Description from Clapham, Turin & Warburg (1962) Fl. Brit. Isles 990).
