Description:
Shrub or undershrub 10 cm-2 m high; stems branched, glabrous, ribbed or winged; leaves variable in shape, more or less decurrent, glabrous, dark-green above, paler below with a distinct mid-vein.

Inflorescence a compound corymb of 3-80 capitula; involucres 2-8 mm diam., with 20-50 bracts, glabrous or cobwebby; outer bracts greenish; laminae of inner bracts obovate, obtuse or subacute, 1-6 mm long, white, glabrous, spreading, slightly shorter than the broadly linear claws; receptacular scales scarious, closely enveloping the base of each floret, rarely with a short petaloid apex; florets slightly exceeding the claws, numerous, 2-4 mm long; corolla cream, often tinged with red or green.

Achenes oblong to obovate, 4-angled, 0.7-2 mm long, pubescent with short papilla-like hairs; pappus absent.
