Common name: Salaisoi.
Slender perennial herbs to 12 cm high; rhizome long-creeping, horizontal; stems tufted, very slender; leaves filiform, channelled, c. 0.5 mm broad, longer or shorter than the culms; bract erect, leaf-like, c. 1-3 cm long.
Spikelets 1-3, ovoid, 2-3 mm long, c. 5-7-flowered; glumes 0.8-1.3 mm long, broad, reddish, with a green keel and a short mucro; stamen usually 1; style branches 3.
Nut Obovoid, obtuse and abruptly apiculate, shortly cuneate, c. 0.8 x 0.5-0.6 mm, trigonous with slightly fibbed angles, sides concave to flat, a light straw-colour, rather dull, two-thirds to three-quarters as long as the glume.
