Common name: Tassel rope-rush.

Description:
Stems with numerous flexuose branches and dark sheathing bracts with an erect mucro.

Male spikelets on slender white-tomentose pedicels numerous in a loose terminal panicle 6-8 mm long, ovoid-oblong, glumes broad, mucronate, reddish-brown, imbricate; 2 outer perianth-segments complicate and keeled, 1 flat and the 3 inner ones smaller; female spikelets 6-10 mm long, usually terminal and solitary; perianth-segments broadly ovate, membranous, scale-like.

Fruit an ovoid nut c. 4 mm long.

Distribution:  S.Aust.: FR, EP, MU, SL, KI, SE.   All States except the N.T.

Conservation status: native

Flowering time: Flowers and/or fruits: in all months.
