Description:
Shrub to 1 m high; branchlets appressed-tomentose, with 3 glabrous ribs decurrent from each leaf' base; leaves ascending, rigid, shortly petiolate, narrow-oblong to obovate, 1.5-5.5 cm X 2-8 mm, the upper side appressed-pubescent, quickly glabrescent, with a prominent midrib and 2 or 3 parallel veins inside each margin interconnected by more obscure reticulate venation, the venation often obscured by leaves becoming revolute on drying, the lower side appressed-tomentose between the prominent midrib and the recurved margins below, the apex obtuse to truncate, shortly mucronate.
Racemes axillary, umbelliform, with 4-8 flowers; rhachis, pedicel and perianth externally densely appressed-pubescent, the perianth tube sparsely so; rhachis 2-3.5 mm long; pedicel 4-7.5 mm long; torus horizontal; perianth 4-5.5 mm long, pink, recurved below the transverse-ovoid limb, woolly-hirsute inside above the ovary, glabrous below and above, the segments splitting apart entirely; gland small, semi-circular; pistil glabrous, displaced to one side of the segments; gynophore as long as the green ovary; style recurved, 6-7 mm long (straightened), pink; pollen-presenter an oblique disc minutely papillose behind, with a short central cone.
Fruit curved-ovoid, 13-15 mm long, glabrous, vertically inserted on the c. 6-8 mm long stipe, with a persistent terminal erect recurved style; young seed narrow-oblong, broadly-grooved on one side, with a very narrow wing extended into a cream caruncle-like apical protuberance.
