Description:
Annuals to perennials with a basal rosette at first but later becoming a much branched shrub to 50 cm high as the erect inflorescence develops, sparsely hairy to glabrescent except the undersurface of the leaves; basal leaves shortly petiolate, 8-16 cm long, with blade obovate to ovate, irregularly pinnatisect to rarely bipinnatisect, pilose; cauline leaves usually sessile and more or less clasping the stem, irregularly pinnatisect or toothed, with lobes shorter than the width of the entire part of the leaf blade, usually sparsely hairy to glabrescent.
Pedicels 0.5-4 cm long; sepals with few scattered coarse hairs; petals yellow.
Capsule 8-25 cm long, covered with decurrent papillae mainly towards the apex, slightly constricted between the seeds; seeds kidney-shaped, with a reticulate pattern in rows.

Flowering time: mainly during winter and early summer but if conditions are favourable it flowers throughout the year.
