Common name: Flax-leaved broom.
Description:
Shrubs 50-150 cm high, erect branches grooved, pubescent; leaves subsessile, 3-foliolate, exstipulate, leaflets linear-oblanceolate, 10-25 x 2-4.5 mm, glabrescent above, appressed-sericeous beneath, markedly involute, the immersed midrib ending in a mucro; stipules absent.
Flowers on pubescent pedicels 2-4 mm long, few to 10 (or more) in congested or lax terminal racemes, often 1 subulate bract distally on the pedicel, c. 4 mm long, the 2 subulate bracteoles c. 3 mm long, all pubescent, persistent, attached at the base of the calyx; calyx campanulate, 6-10 mm long, sericeous, 2-lipped; the upper lobes triangular-lanceolate, deeply divided; the lower short, triangular, c. 2 mm long; petals yellow, standard broadly ovate, 10-14 mm long, sericeous; wings narrow-obovate, shortest, pubescent; keel nearly equalling the standard, obovate, appressed-sericeous; ovary sessile, gradually tapering into a recurved style, stigma terminal.
Pod narrowly oblong in outline, 15-20 mm long, densely pubescent, 2-4-seeded; seed subglobular to ovoid, c. 3 mm long, olive-green.
