Description:
Low densely branched shrubs; branches differentiated into long- and short-shoots, densely short-pilose, hairs appressed, recurved, internodes 3-13 mm long; long-shoot leaves 2.5-5.5 mm long; leaf bases indurate, thickened, narrowing markedly at the distal end, 0.8-1.5 mm long, 0.2-0.3 mm wide at the distal end, subcylindrical above, flattening toward the base and margins; leaf blades narrowly oblong, subterete, rigidly coriaceous, 0.7-1 mm wide; margins thickened, tightly revolute on fresh, dried and boiled material.; mid-vein prominent, occupying almost the entire exposed abaxial surface; surfaces a greyish yellow-green, punctate, adaxial surface glabrous, abaxial surface puberulent or less frequently glabrous; short-shoot leaves similar to long-shoot leaves.

Flowers borne at the top 1-3 nodes of the upper branches, commonly in dichasia with 2-7 flowers or solitary; floral bracts leaf-like, bases proportionally longer than in the leaves, connate at the base into whorls of 4; calyces 5-lobed, 5-6.5 mm long, 0.9-1.5 mm wide near the apex, tubular, gradually broadening toward the apex, hardened, short-pilose throughout with retrorse incurved hairs to glabrous toward the base; petals 5, spathulate, 6.5-9.5 mm long; stamens 6, in 2 unequal whorls, 4.5-8.8 mm long; styles 4-6.7 mm long; style-branches 3, 1.3-2 mm long, bearing terminally oblique slightly swollen stigmas 0.20.5 mm long; ovaries with 3 parietal placentae; ovules 3, 1 per placenta, attached above the middle of the ovary, pendulous on recurved funicles.
