Derivation: Creek eu-, well, and kleidoo, to shut up, referring to the indehiscent silicula.

Description:
Annual herbs.

Sepals not saccate; petals spathulate, not clawed; stamens 6; median nectariferous glands absent; stigma bilobed.

Silicula indehiscent; seed 1 per locule; radicle accumbent.

Distribution:  1 or 2 species from central Western Europe to the Himalayas; 1 species introduced into Australia.
