Description:
Annual or shortly perennial, with several stems, 60-100 cm high; leaves glabrous, usually flat, 2-5 mm broad; sheath scarcely inflated; ligule of hairs c. 1 mm long.
Panicle 10-20 cm long, with several erect scabrous branches 1.5-4 cm long; the pedicels 1-2 mm long, scabrous and with long deciduous hairs at or near the summit; spikelets moderately silky, 3.5-4.5 mm long, acute or shortly acuminate; fertile lemma 2-3 mm long, with a mucro less than 0.5 mm long.
