Description:
Annual herb; leaves alternate, cauline, sessile, simple.
Capitula axillary, pedunculate, solitary, heterogamous, radiate; involucres campanulate, not becoming reflexed; bracts lanceolate, herbaceous with scarious margins, imbricate in several unequal series; receptacle conical, naked, pitted; ray florets female, multisetlate; style branches linear; disk florets tubular, bisexual, fertile; anthers obtuse at the base, with narrowly lanceolate terminal appendages; style branches with papillose linear terminal appendages.
Achenes flattened, smooth; pappus of bristles, multiseriate, barbellate, sessile on the achene. (C. R. Dunlop (1980) J. Adelaide Bot. Gard. 2:235-239).
