Common name: Flat-sedge.

Description:
Tufted annual or perennial; stems oblique to erect, to 25 cm high, slender, prominently and somewhat acutely trigonous, striate, smooth or scabrous; leaves mostly longer than the stems, narrow, to 2 mm broad, the margins remotely scabrous and often incurved; bracts similar to the leaves, 2-3, some or all longer than the inflorescence.

Nut linear-oblong, somewhat oblanceolate, acute to acuminate, long-cuneate to a wide base, 1.5-3 x 0.5-0.7 mm, bluntly trigonous with convex sides, light-brown to brown, dull or covered with a thin shiny transparent faint reticulate-papillose layer, base lighter, the tips usually pointed and blackish, about as long as the glume.

Distribution:  S.Aust.: NW, LE, GT, FR, EA, EP, MU.   All mainland States.

Conservation status: native

Flowering time: March — April and July — Sept.
