Description:
Annual herbs with fibrous roots; flowering stems erect, arising from a basal rosette of leaves, leafless except for 2 opposite leaves below the inflorescence; basal leaves lanceolate to spathulate or rhomboid, on long petioles.
Inflorescence cymose; sepals persistent; petals 5, free or very shortly united at the base; stamens 5; ovary superior, ovoid, ovules 3; stigmas 3, on a style longer than the stigmatic arms.
Capsule 3-valved; seeds 3.
