Description:
Shrubs; leaves alternate, flat, entire to dentate, glabrous to cobwebby.
Capitula in terminal corymbs or corymbose particles, pedunculate, radiate, heterogamous; involucres broadly campanulate; bracts herbaceous with narrow scarious margins, free, imbricate in 2 or 3 unequal series, reflexed in fruit; receptacle slightly convex, naked, pitted.
Ray florets uniseriate, female, fertile, ligulate; style filiform with short obtuse branches, glabrous; ray achenes drupe-like with an outer fleshy layer surrounding a bony endocarp; pappus absent; disk florets bisexual, sterile, tubular, 5-merous; anthers sagittate at the base with acute ovate terminal appendages; style short, branches vestigial; disk achenes abortive.
