Description:
Annual and perennial herbs; leaves cauline, alternate, dissected.
Capitula terminal, long-pedunculate, few, radiate, heterogamous; involucres hemispherical; bracts herbaceous with scarious margins, imbricate in 2-4 unequal series; receptacle convex with broadly oblong scarious scales; ray florets female, uniseriate, ligulate; style branches linear, recurred, with papillose apices; disk florets tubular, 5-merous, bisexual, fertile; corolla glandular, dilated at the base to enclose the summit of the achene; anthers acute at the base with ovate apical appendages; style branches broadly linear, truncate with papillose apices.
Achenes obovoid, somewhat compressed laterally, glandular, fibbed on the inner side; pappus absent.
