Common name: River bottlebrush.

Description:
Shrub or small tree 2-3 m tall; bark corky or fissured; branches semipendulous and flexuose on mature plants; leaves variable, narrowly oblanceolate, usually 30-50 mm long, including the pungent mucro and 2-5 mm wide, often slightly falcate, midrib and marginal veins prominent, lateral veins mostly obscure except on larger leaves, oil glands usually obscure, occasionally evident on the lower surface, petiole to 2 mm long.

Spike usually 30-50 mm long and 20-25 mm wide, open, rhachis villous at flowering, often with leaves in the upper region; hypanthium 2-2.5 mm long and glabrous to densely villous; sepals 1-1.5 mm long, glabrous or occasionally villous outside, usually villous inside; petals cream to pale-yellow, 3-4 mm long and 4-5 mm wide, mostly glabrous; stamens usually 7-9 mm long, filaments cream to pale-yellow, rarely pink; anthers 0.75-1 mm long, bright-yellow; style rarely exceeding the stamens.

fruit cup-shaped, 3-5 mm long and 4-5 mm wide.

Distribution:  Common on creeksides, dried and rocky river-beds and gullies.
