Synonymy: Not Applicable Common name: Green azolla, ferny azolla, duckweed.
Description:
Plants triangular in outline, roots feathery; pinnae regularly produced; leaves oblong-triangular but apex rounded, margins slightly membranous; surface prominently tuberculate in the basal half, reddish-brown; microsporangiate massulae more or less conical, with 1-6 non-barbed processes aggregated together at one end.

On ponds and along rivers, covering extensive areas on slow or non-moving waters. Often associated with A. rubra.
