Description:
Tuber oblong, close to the rootstock; stem slender, erect, less than 30 cm high; leaves to 10 (rarely to 20) cm long and 2-3 (rarely to 5) mm broad, linear or sublinear.
Inflorescence a raceme or 1- (rarely few-) branched panicle often with large leaf-like bracts below the branches; flowers usually solitary (less often paired) in the axil of each bract, drooping, purple, scented, 4-5 mm long, on slender pedicels 6-10 mm long; filament nearly twice as long as the anther, bearded in the upper part, anther without appendages.
