Citation:
Annual 1-3 cm high; leaves subulate to linear, acute, 1-2 cm long, glabrous.
Synonymy: Brizula pumilio (F. Muell. ex Sonder)Hieron., Abh. Naturf. Ges. Halle 12:206 (1873).
Common name: Dwarf aphelia.
Description:
Scapes 0.7-2.5 cm long; spike ovate, 4-6 mm long, 3-4 mm wide, erect; lowermost bract leaflike, 4-10 mm long, spreading, glabrous, enclosing 1-3 male florets; the next bract 3-6 mm long, with a spreading leaf-like tip, glabrous, enclosing 1-3 male florets; upper bracts 4-9, acuminate, 1.5-2.5 mm long, keeled, with hairs along the keel, with broad hyaline ciliate margins not extending to the apex, remaining closely imbricate, deciduous in fruit; female florets each with an ovate ciliolate secondary bract on the abaxial side.
