Description:
Dioecious glabrous shrubs; leaves alternate, caducous, minute (rarely to 4 mm long).
Flowers small, axillary (male in clusters of 1-3, female often solitary), pedicellate; perianth of 3-5 yellow spreading segments; filaments short, thick; anthers 2-celled, opening inwards by longitudinal slits; ovary superior, fleshy, with sessile stigma, reduced in the male flowers to a flat disk, with 1 ovule.
Drupe on a thickened pedicel, with succulent exocarp.
