Description:
Annual herbs, hoary-tomentose.

Sepals equal; petals clawed; stamens appendiculate; glands on both sides of the short stamens; stigma capitate or emarginate; silicula dehiscent, valves without prominent veins, septum broad.

Seeds 4-6 per locule, winged, mucous, radicle accumbent.

Distribution:  150 species from the Mediterranean to Siberia: 1 species established in Australia. Includes horticultural species.
