Description:
Large trees; leaves large.

flowers small, bracteolate; calyx with 5 equal lobes; stamens usually 10 but sometimes fewer in bisexual flowers; filaments filiform, hairy below, without scales; styles connate; disk 10-lobed.

seed enclosed near the centre of an elongate membranous-winged samara.

Distribution:  About 10 species in Asia and 1 in Australia.
